We finished the month of September with a major milestone. After thousands of hours of modeling and simulation, the Laguna’s CAD design phase is complete. Kyle and I are extremely proud of the level of quality we have achieved… We put our engineering degrees to work! We also relied on design input from our peers working in Formula One and our extremely experienced external engineering partner who has worked on OEM and Motorsport projects for over 10 years. Construction of the first Laguna prototype will begin later this month, and then the real fun begins!

The image above is one I’m incredibly proud of because it shows that - even at this early stage - Shoreline Bespoke is committed to engineering excellence. While sexy bodywork gets lots of attention (and trust me, the Laguna’s bodywork will be worth the wait) we wanted to introduce our car from the inside out to highlight the sheer quality of what lies under the skin. We live in a time where a new “car company” arrives on social media every twenty minutes with nothing more than a few flashy design renderings and a pre-order button. Shoreline Bespoke is different; we have a fully engineered vehicle model and designed the Laguna to be produced in extremely limited quantities for the most discerning customers. Kyle leveraged his experience as an aerospace manufacturing director to create an entire product lifecycle management system that is unique to SBV. Every vehicle component down to the last nut and bolt has a part number and exists in our database, ready to be implemented in a future production program.

The Laguna is a 1960’s LeMans prototype reborn as a modern sports car, and yesterday I got to see some of the cars that most inspired me when I began the design phase over two years ago. I attended Luftgekühlt 8, the definitive celebration of air-cooled Porsches which takes place every year in LA. My personal highlights were the red 906 shown above as well as the 907 and 910 seen below. Edition #FIVE of the SBV newsletter might even include some images of the Laguna… who knows!?
